Known as "the city of the two seas", Trapani is located on the westernmost tip of Sicily, where the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Channel of Sicily meet. Originally founded by ancient Greeks, the city is still an important fishing port and the main gateway to the nearby Egadi Islands.

Attractions in Trapani include the magnificent Basilica-Sanctuary of Maria Santissima Annunziata, The Baroque Palazzo della Giudecca, the Fontana del Tritone (Triton's Fountain) and the fine buildings on the main Corso Vittorio Emanuele. Trapani's bustling port area is worth a visit to see the Italians shouting and gesticulating as they load the large ferries to Tunis.
