Santa Rosa National Park
Santa Rosa National Park is part of the Area de Conservación Guanacaste World Heritage site, in the northern western part of Costa Rica.
It was created in 1971 to protect the savannah, deciduous forest, marshlands, and mangroves of the area. Fauna includes coyotes, peccaries, White-nosed Coatis, Baird's Tapirs, three species of monkey (Geoffroy's Spider Monkey, Mantled Howler and White-headed Capuchin) and many varieties of sea and land turtles. Several cat species are also present (jaguarundi, ocelot, cougar and jaguar) but are rarely seen.
