Highlights of this cruise:

Rio de Janeiro
Many first-time visitors to Rio will be keen to view the city's major landmarks, such as the giant statue of Christ (Christo Redentor) which is located on top of Corcovado Mountain or Sugarloaf Mountain, a granite monolith also situated in the city.

Nature lovers will be bowled over by the beauty of Tijuca Forest, which, at 32 square kilometres is the largest urban forest on the planet. Indeed, many beautiful attractions abound in Rio, not least the city's famous beaches, from the Copacabana to the Ipanema, two of the most glorious stretches of white sand and perfect for a spot of sun lounging!

If you're hungry for a real city experience, opt for the grand tour of Rio de Janiero (note to football fans - whatever team you support, a trip to Maracana, the largest football stadium in the world, is a must see).

Buzios
Travel two hours north of Rio de Janeiro, and far from the hustle and bustle of the city you'll find Buzios, a former tiny fishing village that would have been lost to the world had the French actress Brigitte Bardot not made it her favourite beach destination in 1964. Bardot's endorsement catapulted this colourful and lively beach-front port town to fame.

Due to the shallow waters around Buzios, cruise liners usually dock at sea and visitors are ferried to this colourful and attractive cruise destination by tender.

Ilheus
Located in the southern region of Brazil, Ilheus was once a major producer of cocoa and is now a key holiday destination and one of the most important tourism centres in northeast Brazil.
Once you've caught a glimpse of Ilheus's beaches you'll soon see why! These are among some of the most beautiful and renowned in the world, many lined with picture-postcard coconut trees.

Salvador
Located on the north-east coast of Brazil, Salvador is the third most populous Brazilian city, after São Paulo.

As the first colonial capital of Brazil, Salvador da Bahia is one of the oldest cities in the country. Much of the population of Salvador has Black African ancestry and the city has retained its Afro-Brazilian roots making it an important centre for culture and the arts.

You can experience a little of this enthralling heritage on the 'Bahia by Night' tour, where visitors can enjoy a show of typical Afro Bahiana music and dance.

Visually, the city is stunning, with 17th- and 18th-century architecture dotted with gold-embellished churches.
