Highlights of this cruise:

Vigo
An important fishing and commercial port, Vigo was first settled by Celts circa 600 BC. The Celtic legacy lingers on in Galicia's old legends and in the bagpipes played on festive occasions. Shaded squares and cobbled streets make for an excellent amble around this old fishing town. Seafood restaurants are plentiful in the harbour, make sure you leave time to sample your favourite dish!

Lisbon
Portugal's capital spreads its ancient sites on seven hills overlooking the Tagus River. Atop the highest hill, St. George's Castle overlooks the city. Balconies ablaze with geraniums and wrought iron lamps light up the medieval Alfama quarter. Sorrowful fados ring out from cafes in the Alto and shoppers browse in the affluent Chiado district. A short drive away, deposed royalty once lived out their days in the opulent palaces of Estoril and Sintra.

Lanzarote
It's easy to understand why Lanzarote is so popular. It has so much to offer. Being a volcanic island, the scenery is lush and fertile making Fire Mountain and the curious vineyards at Le Geria 'must do' visits. Timanfaya National Park is a vivid volcanic showcase. Here water poured into boreholes hisses back out as steam and you can feast on specialities cooked by the earth's heat.

La Palma
Nicknamed 'Isla Bonita' or 'The Beautiful Island', La Palma is one of the smaller Canary Islands. It's capital, Santa Cruz de la Palma is a picturesque harbour located on the Eastern part of the island. The island's landscape is a product of the volcanic formation, with numerous beaches of black sand, mountainous terrain and rich plant life. The famous fashion designer Manolo Blahnik was born and raised here.

Funchal
Funchal is home to a third of the island's population. The city is noted for its superb hand-embroidery and wicker ware, both Madeiran specialities. The island, of course, is also noted for its superb wines: they are perhaps the world's most complex and long lasting wines. Lush botanical gardens and superbly landscaped terraces adorn the hills above the capital. Settle down in a local cafe and soak up the scenery with a perfectly chilled glass of local wine.
