The Akademik Sergey Vavilov was built in Finland in 1988-89 by the Russian Academy of Science to partner the Akademik Ioffe in sensitive hydro-acoustic research. The ship is exceptionally stable, maneuverable, fast and quiet.

Located on the main deck, the dining room seats all passengers comfortably in one sitting. It is attractively lit and comfortably furnished. A corner bar operates at mealtimes.
